IT TAKES TWO

Week 11

Monday

13th December 2010

Instead of the usual backstage tour this week, the remaining professionals gave us their thoughts about making the semi-final and how they prepared for it, before we had a recap from the Friday night show. Then the five celebrities had their say on their preparation and then a recap of Saturday night.

And for their last It Takes Two interview, it was Gavin & Katya's turn tonight. Despite all his talk of wanting to make the final and win, Gavin admitted it was his time to go this week. Despite all the lovely, positive things Katya had to say about Gavin, she did seem a little bit subdued compared to normal, I guess understandably. I've loved them on ITT, and even if Gavin's dancing has never managed to be up there with the best, they've been a great couple on the show, and I'm glad they made it this far. Well done guys!

Time for the R for Romance, S for Sequins and T for Tess in the Strictly A-Z before it was over to the recording of A Question of Sport with Anton and Len taking part along with Chris Hollins and Austin Healey, and team captains Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell, leaving Sue Barker as the only person on set who hasn't appeared in Strictly! That will go out on 27th December on BBC One.

Next in to chat to Claudia was Anton, who was a bit giddy about having been on QoS, and then we found out how he got on with the piano challenge ... a meagre 172 points!

Dancing With The Stars has finished, so Bruno deigned to make an appearance on the show for the first time this series tonight (at least I think it was the first, can't remember him being on before now). He thinks the right three have made it into the final. Talking about some of the weekend dances, he didn't like the lift in Matt & Aliona's tango which is why he didn't give them a 10, and praised Pamela and Kara. Talking about the final, and each couple will dance their highest scoring dance, their own choice of one dance they'd like to do again, a new dance they haven't danced before, and the no holds barred show dance.

And finally, quite literally the best end of credits sequence ever. Artem and James dance the rumba. That's all.

Kicking off with Choreography Corner with Karen, and they talked about the swing-a-thon to start. But, Karen explained why she wasn't happy with the judges comments about Matt's salsa and suggested that Aliona kept the choreography simple to help him with the three dances for the week. Compliments for James's first class choreography for the paso. Apparently Kara's Viennese Waltz was the most dynamic we've ever seen, and Karen wasn't happy with the judges picking up the "lifts" at this stage of the competition. More praise for Matt's performance in the tango and his determination to deliver the choreography. Onto Karen's reasons why she thinks Pamela got a 40 for her quickstep, before she talked us through Kara's mesmerising rumba and she was upset that Kara shouldn't have been penalised for a slight lifting of her foot off the floor.

More Strictly A-Z with U for Underdog, V for Vincent and W for Winners, before it was the final Len's Dance Clinic of the series. We learnt the woman should follow the man, so if she's got longer legs, make sure you lead her and set your own pace! Plus, how to glide, you can learn the Argentine tango in six hours if needs be, so six months before your wedding is fine - although Claudia looked more like she was playing Twister than dancing the Argentine tango!

And it was the Argentine Tango in Karen's dance file this week, giving us a great opportunity to see some of our favourites from Strictly past (except none of her and Ramps - the best Argentine tango EVER!!!!).

Some Out of the Glitterball questions, and we found out that Artem has a dancing competition in his head 24/7 and Erin would like to be stuck on a desert island with Claudia!

New guests tonight! Neale Pirie from hair and Lisa Armstrong from make-up to talk about how they design and create the looks for the dancers. Hair pieces and glittery false eyelashes for Michelle's Time Warp Hallowe'en look, plaits and blood coloured lipstick and gloss for Felicity's paso, and basing Tina's charleston look on Jodie Foster's Bugsy Malone look.
